I recently realized there was a Thomas Dambo troll I hadn’t tracked down yet – Bjarke Cirkelsten, hiding somewhere on Amager. So on a sunny day, I decided to go for a stroll and finally check him off the list.

As a bonus, I discovered that the area where the troll lives is actually part of Amarminoen – a 27-kilometer hiking trail that winds through Amager Nature Park. It’s inspired by the famous Camino pilgrimage in Spain. While I didn’t have time for the full route, I thoroughly enjoyed the sections I walked. My six-month-old, for his part, was absolutely captivated by the birds and trees. Because apparently, nothing is more fascinating to him right now than rustling leaves.
After finding Bjarke and taking gazillion photos, we headed toward the waterfront, where birds were everywhere. Then we continued to Kongelund Fortress, which offers a stunning view over Køge Bay and the protected Kofoed meadows – another bird paradise. The fortress closed in 1982 and is now open to the public. You can still see the foundations of the original howitzers, casemates, binoculars, and the square moat.
After our little hiking loop, we hopped back in the car and drove to Dragør – technically you can follow Amarminoen all the way there, but I got too lazy and too hungry. Next time.
