With the new year comes the annual recap of the previous one, slightly delayed but better late than never. Let’s jump back on the same wagon as everyone else 🙂
If I had to sum up 2025 in one word, it would be change. Early in the year I found out I was pregnant, and that pretty much set the direction for everything that followed. Less travel, more preparations, more photoshoots. A lot of learning how to live in a changing body, and slowly accepting that the life I’d known so far was coming to an end. We’re still figuring things out, but one thing is clear: we want to keep discovering the world, just with a little extra human along for the ride.
January
After a year-long break, I finally joined my friends again for our annual ski trip to the French Alps. This time we landed in Avoriaz, and honestly, it’s one of the best places I’ve ever been to for off-piste snowboarding. If you’re curious, I wrote more about it here.

February
February was packed with surprises and big life moments. I came back from the ski trip and was welcomed home with a proposal from my boyfriend. One week later, we found out I was pregnant. Travel-wise it was a calmer month, spent running around Copenhagen with my camera, photographing the light festival and enjoying snowy walks in Dyrehaven.

March
March brought a visit to the workshop of our favourite artist, Thomas Dambo, the man behind the trolls. Shaking hands with someone who inspired so many of our trips felt pretty special, and we even got a sneak peek at upcoming troll projects. Toward the end of the month, my dad came to visit and helped us tackle house renovations.

April
We kicked off April with a trip to Poland for my fiancé’s favourite band, Kwiat Jabłoni, who happened to be playing a concert in my hometown. While there, we squeezed in a bit of castle hunting and added Moszna and Niemodlin to our growing collection.

Back home, spring exploded, and I went slightly wild photographing cherry blossoms everywhere.

We wrapped up the month with an Easter trip to Paris and crossed off a few French landmarks from our bucket list.

May
Surprisingly, May was fairly quiet. My dad visited again to help with renovations, and we mostly enjoyed slow weekends in Copenhagen, catching up with friends.
June
Using an extended weekend, we packed the car and drove to northern Germany for a short getaway. We had to cut it a bit short because of the rain, but it was still a lovely trip, and we discovered some new, interesting spots along the way.

July
For our babymoon, we opted for a short spa stay in Helsingør. At that point, running around like I used to was no longer an option, and the idea of floating in a warm pool sounded perfect. The rest of July was spent with friends and running between baby stores, trying to figure out what kind of baby gear you actually need to survive the first months.

August
August started with a trip to Poland for the Slavic and Viking Festival in Wolin. It had been on my list for nine years, so finally making it there felt amazing. Later in the month, my parents and cousin came to visit. Since it was my cousin’s first time in Denmark, we went full tourist mode and showed him all the highlights.

September
September was all about slowing down. At nine months pregnant, my energy levels dropped fast, and even short outings felt like a workout. We focused on finishing the nursery, went on a few last dates, and slowly said goodbye to our comfortable DINK (Dual Income, No Kids) life.
October
October was a whirlwind. I managed a Halloween visit to Tivoli and put up decorations just before our little one decided it was time to arrive. Or rather, it was decided for him, because he was very cozy and not in a hurry at all.

Our son was born mid-month, and between learning how to care for a tiny human and running on very little sleep, most of October is a blur.
November
November was spent mostly indoors, cocooned in our new reality. I’m incredibly grateful my fiancé could spend the whole month at home with us. Family came to meet the newest member, and we slowly started venturing out into the big, scary world. Funny how something as simple as a grocery run suddenly felt like a major expedition.
December
By late November and through December, we began going out more and embracing all the Christmassy things. Every outing felt like a small test, but each one boosted our confidence. We quickly realized the biggest blocker wasn’t the baby, but our own fears. We got lucky – he slept through most of our little adventures. We visited Copenhagen, Tivoli, and Frilandsmuseet dressed up in Christmas lights, hosted family, met friends, and soaked up a lot of festive spirit. The year ended quietly on the couch, hoping the baby would sleep through the fireworks.

What will 2026 bring? No idea, but we’re already excited. Having a kid has taught us to get excited over the smallest, silliest things. I’ll definitely miss parts of our old life, and I’m sure FOMO will hit from time to time, but I’m also looking forward to discovering new ways to enjoy it all.
Happy New Year 💛
