In just about a month, cherry blossoms will once again paint Copenhagen in shades of pink. But where should you go to enjoy this breathtaking sight? To help you out, I’ve put together a guide to the best cherry blossom spots in and around the city. If you know of any hidden gems, feel free to share!
Bispebjerg Kirkegård
One of the most iconic cherry blossom locations in Copenhagen, Bispebjerg Kirkegård has become a must-visit spot for sakura enthusiasts. In recent years, the cemetery has drawn massive crowds, with around 150,000 visitors during peak bloom. While I love a peaceful stroll among the blossoms, I’ve found it increasingly difficult to enjoy the space without the crowds—so I’ve been skipping it lately.
A gentle reminder: This is a cemetery, so please be respectful during your visit.

Langelinie Park
Each April, Langelinie Park bursts into bloom, with around 200 cherry trees attracting visitors for picnics and photoshoots. The park also hosts the Copenhagen Sakura Festival towards the end of April, offering a wonderful immersion into Japanese culture. However, the festival has become a victim of its own popularity, with large crowds making it a bit overwhelming at times.

Superkilen Park
Located in Nørrebro, Superkilen Park is another spot to check out for cherry blossoms. There are actually two places for viewing cherry blossoms in Nørrebro – Den Sorte Plads (The Black Square) and Den Røde Plads (The Red Square). They have two different kinds of cherries planted that blossom during different times.
Tivoli Gardens
Although I visit Tivoli often, I’ve somehow never been there in spring to see the cherry blossoms. The park does have some blooming trees and lots of flowers everywhere. Just remember that Tivoli has an entrance fee.
Pilegårds Vænge, Ishøj
Hidden away in a quiet residential area near the E20/E47 motorway, this charming crossroad is lined with cherry trees in all directions. When I visited, I had the place all to myself, with petals swirling in the wind—it was truly magical.

Gavnø Castle
A little outside Copenhagen, Gavnø Castle is home to Denmark’s longest cherry tree avenue. If you make the trip, don’t miss the gardens, which host Denmark’s largest Tulip Festival in spring. More details here: Gavnø Castle Tulip Festival
